Responsibilities: 

  • Provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children while at our Church, ages 0-5 years in a clean environment.
  • Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer.
  • Two nursery workers need to be on duty when children are present to ensure backup care is available in the event a child needs to be taken to the bathroom. Otherwise, parents need to remain with their child until two staff members are on site.
  • Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
  • Arrive at 9:30am am prior to the 10 am Sunday Service and make sure sign-in sheets are in place and the space is organized and clean.
  • You will have the option to work other church events. The opportunity for extra work will be announced at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
  • You will not be expected to work Christmas Day.
  • Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child’s registration form.
  • In the event of an emergency notify the parent via parent(s) cell phone.
  • Straighten the room and clean any toys/crib before leaving. All toys that have had contact with saliva/soil will require sanitizing solution or wipes, which will be available in the nursery.
  • Attend an evaluation after a 90-day probationary period and thereafter annually.
  • Report to the rector any issues which are hindering the carry out of the duties or responsibilities.
  • Communicate in advance, by phone to the rector: 1) any planned absences with an advance two-week notice, or 2) any unplanned absences at least 24 hours prior to the shift.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 5 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.
  • At least one year of childcare  experience is required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Satisfactory completion of background check.
  • Three references.
  • Child Safety training within 30 days of starting work.
  • At least two of your references should be from persons who are familiar with your work as a childcare provider.
  • Work authorization is required.
